About the Artist
Borka & The Gang is the electronic music project of Germany-based producer Boris Graus — a project that has always been less about a fixed band and more about bringing different musicians, friends and ideas together.
Born in Moscow, Boris was part of the first wave of electronic music emerging there in the 1990s. The early parties at MDM and the legendary Titanik club left a lasting impression and became a foundation for his musical direction. By the mid-to-late ’90s, he was already producing electronic music, before moving to Germany in 2000 and diving deeper into production, DJing, MCing and various musical projects, mainly rooted in breakbeat and house.
Borka & The Gang was launched in 2013, initially centred around house, garage and broken beats, gradually developing into a more eclectic sound with strong influences from jazz, funk and disco.
While Boris is at the centre of the project, The Gang is deliberately fluid. Over the years, a changing group of musicians has contributed to the music, both in the studio and on stage. This approach is particularly evident on the upcoming double LP, where Boris combines his own keyboards, percussion and glockenspiel with performances from musicians across the world.
The result is music that sits comfortably between the club and the live session — rhythmic, warm and detailed, with enough space for the musicians to leave their mark.
