Whiskey Sour

Base Spirit:



1 Serving

The Whiskey classic everyone should know!


  • 1.5 oz. (45 ml) Bourbon or Rye Whiskey

  • 3/4 oz. (22.5 ml) freshly squeezed lemon juice

  • 1/2 oz. (15 ml) rich Demerara syrup (2:1 – brown sugar:water)

  • 1/2 oz. (15 ml) raw egg white or aquafaba

  • 3 drops Angostura Aromatic Bitters

  • 1 lemon zest for lemon oil and garnish

How it's done

Step 1

Add all ingredients except the Angostura Aromatic Bitters and the lemon zest into a shaking tin and dry shake (without ice) for roughly 10 seconds.

Step 2

Add ice to the shaking tin and shake for another 10-20 seconds.

Step 3

Double strain into an ice-filled lowball glass and let it sit for a few seconds to let the foam settle.

Step 4

Add three drops of Angostura Aromatic Bitters to the foam. For more control, use a dropper bottle for this instead.

Step 5

Squeeze the lemon zest over the drink to express the oils.
